Message from Exective Director :.
Dear Friends and Supporters:
It is indeed a pleasure to share with you the 2004-2005 Annual Report for
Community Matters, Inc. As articulated in its Articles of Incorporation and Mission
Statement, Community Matters is committed to make a positive difference in
the
lives of families and children in rural Mississippi.
The current projects focused on smoking prevention and abstinence have
systematically demonstrated the health, social and psychological benefits of teenage
abstinence from sex and smoking. As a result, our children are
making decisions which
lead to positive outcomes.
Access to affordable and quality childcare is a growing concern in many communities.
The Truevine Children’s Village opened its doors August 3, 2004, with five students.
The current enrollment is 27 preschool and 17 after school children.
Community Matters is making a positive difference in the lives of children, from six-weeks-old to 18
years-of-age, and in the lives of their families.
Thanks to the support of our Board of Directors, the collaborative engagement of our stakeholders and partners, the dedication and hard work of the staff and the investment of our founders, Community Matters, Inc. is demonstrating that Community truly does matter. What matters most is that, “Community people are solving community problems."
Sincerely,
Bettye Ward Fletcher
